E - Need Icon Explanation

Ok, I could be patient and eventually figure it out by myself the the process of deduction but I thought it would be easier to ask.
The Icon's on the topics appear in different ways and I can't figuresome out. I understand that when they are Red that there is a new post that you ahve not yet viewed but there are some that seem to have lines rolling through them and some that don't and some have red stars on them and some don't.
E or J, can you post something on the topics about the forum as to what all these conditions mean? I'm just ca curious kind of person!
